Second season of Neuse News Sports Show debuts Wednesday
Bryan Hanks and Junious Smith III are ready to bring their prep football analysis back to Neuse News for the 2019 season.
The second season of the Neuse News Sports Show presented by Lenoir Community College is scheduled to debut Wednesday at 4 p.m. and will continue at that same time throughout the 2019 season. The show is sponsored in part by KC Crop Insurance Services. Hanks — the editor of Neuse News — and Smith — the site’s chief sports writer — will host the show and have a series of guests this season.
Hanks has been covering prep sports in North Carolina in 1992; he’s been in Kinston since 2002. The Wilkes County native has won a dozen N.C. Press Association Excellence in Journalism awards for sports coverage, sports columns and sports writing in his career.
Smith, a Fayetteville native, has covered high school sports since 2008 and has been in this market since 2013. The 2016 NCPA winner for special sections (Brandon Ingram NBA Draft) is recognized throughout Eastern North Carolina for his dedication to high school athletics coverage.
Wednesday’s season premiere will be focused toward the progression of teams throughout summer workouts, a recap of the 2018 season and predictions for the Eastern Carolina 2A race, along with the Coastal Plains 1A — where Jones Senior resides — and the two Lenoir County private schools in Arendell Parrott Academy and Bethel Christian Academy.
The episodes will be shown live on Neuse News’ Facebook page, and will be archived for future viewing.
