Today, NC House Speaker Rep. Tim Moore (R-Cleveland) campaigned for Rep. Chris Humphrey (R-Lenoir, Wayne) in Kinston at the NC Cooperative Extension, an early voting location. Moore is serving his third term as the presiding officer of the NC House of Representatives and represents Cleveland County.

“I wanted to come out and help my friend Chris Humphrey. He’s a great member of the House. I’ve actually known him since college. He really does an effective job for Lenoir County and this whole region. I just want to do what I can to make sure he gets reelected,” said Moore.

Speaker Moore follows Vice President Pence, who was in Kinston yesterday for a rally held in the rain at the Kinston Regional Jetport.

“I believe folks in Kinston, like in my rural town where I live back in the western part of the state, they realize there is a clear choice in this year’s election. They realize that Republicans are offering a pro-growth, pro-business, and pro-family agenda,” said Moore. “Unfortunately, the Democrats have gone off the edge politically promoting what amounts in some cases to socialism. In our race, in our election, a lot of the House Democrats have signed a pledge that they are going to defund the police. We have our public safety on the line. We have so many important issues to deal with and I’m going to tell you Chris Humphrey is on the right side to all of this.”

Humphrey, the incumbent, serves as the House Majority Freshman Caucus Whip and is facing challenger Virginia Cox-Daugherty for the seat.

“I'm honored to have the Speaker of the NC House take time out of his busy schedule to come down to Lenoir County and help the campaign,” said Humphrey. “He's a tireless campaigner. Speaker Moore has been a great friend of this district over the last 2 years. It's one of several visits he has made to the area. And if I'm re-elected, I'm sure he'll be back.”

Neuse News will host an Election Night Results Show on Facebook LIVE on Tuesday, November 3rd at 7:30 pm. The show is sponsored in part by Brooks Poole, Realtor.

“I love Kinston. You have great food and great BBQ and a great representative in Chris Humphrey,” said Moore.
