Obituary - Billy Ray Taylor

Billy Ray Taylor, 79, of Deep Run, passed away Friday, November 13, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodley and Bessie Mae Heath Taylor, and his wife of 52 years, Judith Carol Taylor.

Billy worked for Glen Raven Textiles for 43 years and was a proud member of Rivermont Holiness Church. In his retirement, he loved to grow collards for which he was affectionately called “Pa Collard.”

He is survived by his wife, Syble Jean Conway Taylor; children, Kay Futrell and friend, Wayne, Donald Taylor and wife, Sally, and Betty Sanchez and husband, Carlos; stepson, Carl Jones; grandchildren, Christopher Snyder and wife, Nicole, Anthony Snyder, Kelly Raynor and husband, Deral, Jeffrey Turnage and wife, Ashley, Jessica Tyndall and husband, Devin, and Ronald Taylor and wife, Rachel; step granddaughters, Misty Jones, Tanya Brinson, and Miranda Dunn; great-grandchildren, Chase Snyder, Jade Snyder, Zack Snyder, Austin Snyder, Ava Snyder, Emma Raynor, Deral Raynor III, Charlotte Turnage, and Bella Tyndall, and sisters, Frances Burkett of Kinston, and Celia Cole of Beulaville.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Pinelawn Memorial Park with Reverend Jimmy Horne officiating.

Due to COVID-19, social distancing and the wearing of masks is required.
