UNC Health Care announces agreement with Kindred for new hospital rehabilitation services
UNC Lenoir Health Care has engaged Kindred Hospital Rehabilitation Services to manage inpatient rehabilitation services at its hospital in Kinston, NC.
UNC Lenoir Health Care has provided inpatient rehabilitation services since 1993 and has a long history of offering exceptional care to patients recovering from serious illness or injury, including stroke and brain injury. The relationship with Kindred Is expected to build on that strong history and foundation.
Under the agreement, Kindred Hospital Rehabilitation Services will assume management and operations of the 17-bed unit.
Kindred Hospital Rehabilitation Services will provide UNC Lenoir Health Care’s Rehabilitation Unit with management programs and best practices in quality rehabilitation services. As a leading provider of rehabilitation program management services, Kindred improves patient outcomes and provides staff training in more than 1,500 hospitals, nursing, and rehabilitation centers and other post-acute care settings across the nation. It consistently outperforms national industry averages on quality measures.

UNC Lenoir, licensed for 199 beds, is a nonprofit organization serving the Lenoir County area with acute, outpatient, and community health services. The hospital has a 114 year history of providing excellent care to the community. In addition to general medical, surgical, and obstetrical and gynecological care, UNC Lenoir offers specialized services including cardiology, pulmonology, oncology, radiology and urology. Surgical specialties include general, orthopedic and bariatric with a staff trained to take special care during recovery.
