Greene County Kids On Stage presents Disney’s Descendants

This past weekend Kids On Stage kicked off its 5th Season with Disney’s Descendants. Kids On Stage founder and Director Parker Harris stated that he was “overjoyed and excited to return to an in door performance”. The GC Kids On Stage “Dream Team” working with the Greene County Parks and Rec department worked diligently to create a safe and friendly environment for the show following all precautions and advice of the local health department and NCDHHS. 

The show featured over 40 students which was the largest production to date. This past spring during the run up to “Into the Woods” at  beginning of the shut down, the fear became that there would not be another show for a long time.  The Kids On Stage team while working on Descendants produced an online musical called “Super, Happy, Awesome News” while working through the pandemic. 

The show went off without a hitch and had a sell out crowd of supporters. Harris said his most memorably part of this experience was “the finale of each night that included a fantastic choreographed dance by Shaina Ruth and a surprise confetti cannon.” 

Lesley Keely, GC Kids On Stage Music Director has been part of the Dream Team for 5 years and said this show was most memorable for her to “watch kids create memorable and iconic characters in the midst of craziness of a pandemic is exciting and inspiring”
