Lenoir Community College student Thurman Sanders of Kinston says he has loved art since the age of five. He began watching artist David Ross and fell in love with art. Enrolled in the Transitional and Career Studies Program at LCC, he will be one of a variety of artists whose work with be featured in a special art event, For the Love of the ART from 7 to 8:30 p.m. February 28 in the LCC Blizzard Atrium and Culinary Center. Admission is free for the event.

Art work from students in the Transitional and Career Studies Program and in the Fine Arts Department and from community members will be showcased and auctioned to support the LCC Foundation Scholarship Program.

Thurman is excited to be a part of this event. He likes to draw celebrities and loves to draw free hand.  “Drawing is a way to escape what is going on in life,” he said. “I am able to express myself and leave any troubles behind.”

He says that everyone has his or her own style and talent and he encourages everyone who wants to draw to do so.

Thurman’s goal is to have his own art studio in Kinston.  He also wants to do a lot of traveling where he can become inspired and continue to draw.

To attend For the Love of the ART, please RSVP by February 21, 2020, or call Debbie Wise at 252-233-6824 or email dcwise02@lenoircc.edu.
