Sponsored: Personal trainers enhance membership at the Kinston Community Center
KCC Personal Trainer, Melissa McCoy, works with a client at the center
In 2015, Veronica Faye Mills became a member of the Kinston Community Center. She began walking the track, riding bikes, and took a ‘Cherish the Chair’ class. In 2016, Mills began training with Carl Cox, an International Sports Science Association Certified Personal Trainer. She saw a big difference in her balance and strength. She also maintained a weight regimen.
“I love what I do at KCC,” said Mills.
With personal training, the certified trainers at Kinston Community Center will customize a plan specific to the client’s goals and needs. Individual sessions with a personal trainer are $20 per session with discounted rates for multiple clients. Partner sessions, with up to two clients, are $15 per person. Group sessions, with up to six clients, are $10 per person.
At the Kinston Community Center, there are two certified personal trainers. Carl Cox and Melissa McCoy. McCoy is an American College of Sports Medicine Certified Personal Trainer.
“Everyone needs guidance,” said Cox. “Personal training will help their greater knowledge and put them in the right direction safely.”
The atmosphere of a gym can overwhelm new people with different machines and weights. New clients may not know the right questions to ask. Personal training can assist with the knowledge gap.
“The great thing about personal training is you have someone to cheer you on,” said Kelly Cannon, Center Director. “They support you by partnering with you to reach your goals.”
In addition to the personal training options available to the members of Kinston Community Center, fitness classes are another option for guided exercise. The membership includes guided fitness classes in the pool and in the fitness room.
“Make the time, not excuses. You owe it to yourself,” said McCoy.
