UPDATED: Kinston/Lenoir County Parks and Rec releases official statement on Coronavirus

UPDATE: In conjunction with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) the Kinston/Lenoir County Parks and Recreation Department has elected to follow suit and cancel all spring athletics programming, this includes Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Track and Field, Gymnastics, Tennis, and Volleyball.

More information regarding this cancellation will be provided as soon as possible.

Director Corey Povar released the following statement:

At this time, the Kinston/Lenoir County Recreation Department is not planning to close any facilities or cancel any of our recreation programs due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). We do encourage all participants/visitors of recreation facilities and recreation activities to please use safe hygiene practices and to avoid attending if you feel ill in any way.

Parents, please make sure that your children are washing their hands before attending activities and we will be sure to have hand sanitizer available at each facility. The recreation department realizes that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is a major concern for many participants and if needed, will take necessary steps to keep our patrons and participants safe.
