Letter to the Editor: Senator Jim Perry - Fighting Rumors

Letter to the Editor: Senator Jim Perry - Fighting Rumors

We are all hearing new, terrible rumors every day. You should probably assume that the rumors will grow in their audacity and there will be at least one a day.

As a greatly respected friend stated: "Information in this thing—good and bad, true and false—travels at light speed through text and social media. The more alarming and earth-changing the rumor, the faster it travels."

Many questions were asked yesterday afternoon of the Governor and his staff. If any of these answers change, I will share the information with you:

1. Are there plans to shut down construction sites? NO.

2. Are there plans to shut down manufacturing sites? NO

3. Are there plans to close County borders? NO
(Dare and Hyde did so on their own, and they are somewhat isolated, non "pass through" counties)

4. Are there plans to require "sheltering in place?" NO

5. I will post the OFFICIAL LINK for case counts in NC. Don't believe your well intended friend or relative - just go look it up for yourself. It is typically updated every morning. https://www.ncdhhs.gov/covid-19-case-count-nc

Rep. John BellRep. Chris Humphrey and I have spoken with Congressmen Murphy and Rouzer regarding various repeated rumors from the Federal Government and they continue to be false.

If you have a question, or need help with something please email my office at jim.perry@ncleg.net. As I am sure you can appreciate our cell phones are overloaded with texts and calls.

Best,
JP
