Three more Covid-19 cases confirmed in Lenoir County

Three more cases of COVID-19 – cases 12, 13 and 14 – have been confirmed in Lenoir County. The Lenoir County Health Department received notification of the lab-confirmed cases on Wednesday, April 8. The Health Department is conducting further contact tracing investigations on the 13th and 14th cases. More information will be shared as it becomes available. To protect individual privacy; no further information will be shared.

As an update to the community, The Lenoir County Health Department has completed follow-up investigations on cases 1-12, and have verified each case is attributable to out-of-county travel or contact with a known or suspected COVID-19 case. 

Lenoir County is continuing to monitor more than 100 individuals and households. Please understand that monitoring does not indicate a positive COVID-19 test, but that precautions are being taken due to recent travel, the individual is showing symptoms but is untested and self-quarantining or those individuals have been tested and are awaiting those results. The age range of positive COVID-19 cases in Lenoir County has been between 18 and 60 years old.

“We ask that everyone remain at home except for essential business like buying groceries. When you do have to be away from home, please maintain your distance from others and take precautions such as washing your hands often,” Lenoir County Health Department Director Pamela Brown said.

Chairman Linda Rouse-Sutton and the Board of County Commissioners continue to encourage everyone in our community to be vigilant in practicing social distancing and to restrict personal travel to only essential needs. All Lenoir County residents play a vital role in reducing the impact of COVID-19 in our community.
