Multiple reports of a 3:30 pm protest in downtown Kinston Monday, City Council cancels meeting

Several nights of protests across the country, including Greenville where several businesses were damaged or destroyed, have potentially made their way to Kinston.

In an email at 9:07 p.m. Sunday from Kinston City Clerk Debra Thompson, the Kinston City Council meeting for Monday at 7:00 p.m. has been canceled. No reason has been given.

According to multiple posts on social media within the last 24 hours, there is a planned protest gathering at 3:30 p.m. in downtown Kinston. There have been conflicting reports about where this protest begins, but all of the posts are consistent with 3:30 p.m. in downtown Kinston on Monday.
