Leon Steele: Did you know? Part 6
Did you know that despite the possibility that we may not enjoy any Summerfest concerts this year the Pride team is moving ahead with Christmas plans? It takes months to plan a parade as well as the lights at Pearson Park.
We need to line up our review stand, create the marketing graphics and marketing strategy, find some sponsors, buy some insurance, develop the judges’ review sheets, identify and invite the judges, discuss having again the private seating bleacher by the review stand, confirm that Neuse News will broadcast the parade live in its entirety for the third year in a row (confirmed), line up volunteers to assist with various tasks, schedule the red carpet, alert the schools and certain other organizations, and so on. A great of work goes into. There are many details and it takes a team from beginning to end to make it happen.
Are you organizing your team of participants? Are you planning your float design yet? We hope to grow our entries this year to make our Kinston Parade a really big parade for our commUNITY. After all, the parade and our community are for all of us. Together we are strong. Just look at the results of community effort working together to create something great and memorable last year.
