Fatal accident on NC 903 south of La Grange

North Carolina Highway Patrol reported that at approximately 6:00 a.m. on NC 903 south of La Grange in Lenoir County, a fatal accident took place. A southbound passenger vehicle with four occupants crossed the center line and side-swiped an SUV that had two occupants.

The SUV spun out of control and came to rest on the shoulder. The passenger car spun out of control and crossed the center line a second time and was struck by a northbound commercial truck with four occupants. The truck was not an 18-wheeler, but a heavy commercial truck loaded with tools.

The occupants of the SUV were not injured nor transported. All four occupants of the pickup truck were transported to Lenoir Memorial for treatment and are currently in stable condition.

The four occupants of the passenger car that initiated the sequence of events died at the scene. Their names are not being released at this time.

NC 903 was closed for approximately four hours due to the collision investigation.
