Man turns himself in after reports of shots fired inside a vehicle

On August 30, 2020, the Lenoir County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division responded to reports of someone shooting at a vehicle on Hwy. 58 South near the Southwood area. Deputies conducted and investigation and through witness statements and video evidence, the suspect was identified as Charles Reggie Alphin, III of Kinston.

Alphin was arrested after turning himself in to deputies at the Lenoir County Courthouse. He was charged with two counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied moving vehicle and one count of discharging a firearm enclosure to incite fear, both of which are felonies. He was given a $75,000 secured bond and confined in the Lenoir County Sheriff's Detention Center.
