F3Kinston is collecting new and gently used furniture, household items, toys, and financial gifts on Sunday, January 31st from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm in response to recent local tragedies. F3 stands for Fitness, Fellowship, and Faith, and has a mission of planting, growing, and serving free outdoor workouts for men in order to reinvigorate male community leadership.
“F3 is here to help better the communities in which we live and this is a way we can partner with the community to help someone in need,” said Cliff Rouse.
The F3 men will ruck three different routes through Kinston. Rucking is a form of exercise involving walking or hiking while wearing a weighted backpack. In addition to the three routes, there will be a stationary drop-off site at the old Coastal Warehouse near Grainger Stadium with several men present to help unload the items.
“F3 has challenged us to be 1% better as men; better in our homes and in our community. We strive to lead by example in the way we serve others. This opportunity is a great example of how we can serve our community by helping those in need,” said Jay Lewis.
The special F3 event is the result of several men discussing recent fire victims in the community and their collective desire to be proactive and prepared to help quickly when something similar happens in the future. Donated items will be stored in warehouse space so the F3 men can respond quickly if another disaster befalls a family in need. Financial gifts will be held in a BB&T account. Anyone interested in donating financial gifts should make checks payable to F3Kinston.
F3 Kinston currently has at least two regularly scheduled early morning workout options in various locations every day of the week except Sunday, and men often plan and gather on Sundays for less formal workouts, distance runs, or rucks. Visit www.F3kinston.com for more information.
