Kinston Police Officers respond to shooting

On Thursday, November 18th, 2021, at approximately 1:47 p.m. Kinston Police Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of N. Queen St. in reference to multiple calls regarding a shooting that had occurred.  After responding to the scene, Kinston Police Officers were able to determine that an altercation occurred between Kevin St. John, 20, of Kinston and Travis Myers, 21, of Kinston.  During the altercation, Myers pulled a handgun and shot St. John several times and St. John was transported to UNC Lenoir for treatment by a family member. After arriving at UNC Lenoir and due to the extent of his injuries St. John was transported to Vidant Medical Center for additional treatment.  Approximately 10 minutes after the incident occurred officers were able to apprehend Myers without incident, he was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.

We will investigate such cases with no compromise for crime, and continue to seek assistance from the community we proudly serve.
