Greene County Parks and Recreation Winter Sports
The Greene County Recreation Department has opened up registration for their winter sports. The two options for this winter season are basketball and a new girls volleyball team.
Registration for these two sports will close on November 30. You can register at the Wellness Center, a certificate of birth may be required to register. With the registration fee, the child will get a team t-shirt to wear to the games. All games will be played at the Greene County Wellness Center.
“Greene county parks and Recreation is having basketball and volleyball sign ups. Basketball ages 5 -16 ages will be broken up accordingly,” said Director Mike Anderson. Basketball is from ages 5 -16 with a registration fee of $30. Practice will start in December, and games will start the first week in January and run through March.
The new winter sport is Girls Volleyball. This sport is for ages 7-16 with a registration fee of $20. This is the first time GCRD will have a girl’s volleyball team. Practice for this sport will start in December. The games will start the first week of January and they will play through March.
“Volleyball is a new program and we are really hoping it does well,” said Anderson. “We have had 3 (volleyball) camps to teach basic skills.”
Registration for basketball and volleyball will close on November 30. You can go to the Wellness Center to get registered for these sports.
