Kinston

Carol Dean Moore Miller, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, November 7, 2021 at UNC Lenoir Hospital.

The daughter of Isaac Moore and Inez Lewis Moore, Carol spent a portion of her life being a proud military wife.  She cherished being the mother to Beverly, Lisa and Eddie, however, her greatest joy was being a grandmother.

Carol was raised on Dixon Street in Kinston and attended Grainger High School.  The Moore family had an opportunity to open a “hamburger joint” in Duplin County when Carol and her two sisters were teens.  This was between 1962 and 1963.  The diner was located on Hwy 11 South of Pink Hill at the intersection of Hwy 11 and 111.  This is where Carol met her husband Edward “Man Ale” Miller.

This venture led to her life as a military wife, homemaker, and mother.  Carol moved several times with her new family to different Army bases, including Alaska and Germany.  She was a strong and faithful wife who withstood the task of living the military life.

As they say, all the rest is history.  Carol gained a wonderful bunch of sisters and brothers-in-law in the Miller family.  To this day, she is still held very close to them.

Carol gave us lots of precious memories.  She went by many names, a couple of nicknames, and just us poking fun back and forth.  She is so cherished and missed.  Carol will always be remembered especially throughout hers and our favorite holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

In addition to her parents, Carol is predeceased by her sisters, Diara and Sandra.

She is survived by her daughter Beverly Miller Murphy of Pink Hill, daughter Lisa Miller Harris and husband Billy of Kinston, son, Edward (Eddie) Miller Jr. and significant other, Lisa Hall Moody of Surf City; Grandchildren Lindsey Stapleford, Dalton Murphy, Ellie Stapleford, Makayla Miller, Cole Murphy and Maggie Lynne Snoddy and husband, Timmy; Step-grandchildren Josh Harris, Mariah Noren and Trey Leon and wife Mykenze; Great-granddaughter Carley Boone, and soon to be expected great-grand in 2022.

Visitation will be held at Pink Hill Funeral Home on Wednesday November 10, from 6  -7:30 p.m.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 11, at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston with Gary Turner officiating.
