GEC students, Stacie Hubbard and Reagan Dixon, participated in Kids on Stage’s presentation of the classic fairy tale  Beauty and the Beast: The Broadway Musical at Greene County Wellness Center. Observing Covid protocols with mask wearing and pod seating, patrons could attend March 12-14  productions, Kids On Stage is a youth community theatre group based in Greene County that provides educational performance experiences and opportunities for ages 4-18.

Organized in 2015 by Greene Countian Parker Harris, the group is dedicated to bringing to life great stories by great storytellers, on stage, and in the community. Encouraging youth participation, the group promotes the premise that “There's A Place For Everyone”, as many hands are needed and appreciated to produce a successful and meaningful production. At Kids On Stage,  anyone who signs up for a production, receives a role and no one is ever cut. However, auditions are held to place cast members in the appropriate role for them.

Organizer Harris, now a sophomore at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, is continuing his passion for the arts. He is studying Dramatic Art and Performance Studies, and is the Lead Student Coordinator for Arts Everywhere. He presently serves as the Founding Artistic Director for Kids On Stage.
At Kids On Stage, Harris has helmed innovative productions like Frozen JR and the World Premiere of A Country Carol, in which he wrote the script.

Since 2015, Kids on Stage has  produced eight musicals, including an original composition, to sellout crowds, won international awards, and engaged over 33 local businesses in their sponsorship program. Summer activities are planned include two one -week summer camps which will culminate with productions of  Disney’s High School Musical and Disney’s Moana. Visit the website gckidsonstage.org. for more information. Also, as a fund raiser, Kinds on Stage is offering to “Egg your House”(hiding eggs) for an Easter morning hunt.
