Parrott holds ribbon cutting for huddle hall

On March 23rd, donors, trustees, and faculty joined Parrott Academy Head of School Brooks Sutton to cut the ribbon on the campus’s newest building, Huddle Hall. The almost 7,000 square foot brick facility is the 14th building to be constructed on the campus since the school opened in 1965. It was completed in January 2020 and has been in use throughout this school year, but due to COVID precautions, the official ribbon cutting ceremony was delayed until this March. 

Speaking to an audience of about 25, Stephen Hill, past president of the Board of Trustees, said that the school community’s “contributions and support are the driving force behind the success of Parrott Academy.” Mrs. Sutton expressed thanks to former Headmaster Bert Bright, who initiated fundraising and construction efforts, and to Kim and Carl Huddle and other major donors. 

The building, constructed by Farrior and Sons Inc. of Farmville, contains five large classrooms. One end has a hallway, storage, and two classrooms for 4-5 year old Transition students.  The facility also includes a large, dedicated room for the school’s growing Extended Day program.
