Kinston – Charles “Chuck” Edward Roman, 86, passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. A memorial service will be held Friday at 10 am at LaGrange First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Hobgood officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service. Burial will be private. The service will be Live stream @LaGrange1stFWB. Chuck was born on September 5, 1934 in Sir Johns Run, Berkley Springs, West Virginia to Justice Richard and Anna Viola Roman.
A decorated Vietnam veteran, he served in the Navy Reserves and retired from the US Marine Corp after 22 years of active duty as a Master Sgt. Chuck was a member of LaGrange First Free Will Baptist Church. He loved his wife, children and “perfect” grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his church family. He enjoyed playing golf, growing vegetables and flowers, and was an avid coin collector.
Chuck especially enjoyed family vacations and family reunions at the beach. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sandra Roman and Nancy Rockwell; brothers, Donald Roman and Vernon Roman; and a special niece, Beth Roman Meyer.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Joyce Roman; sons, Charles Roman, Jr. and wife, Paula, Steven Roman and wife, Lori, and Gary Roman and wife, Bonnie; grandchildren, Kristin Roman Taylor and husband, Lee, Ryan Roman, and Breanna Roman; step-grandchildren, Gunnar, Samuel, and Nathan; great-grandson, Barrett Taylor; family by love, Kenneth and Amanda Moore and their children, Kenny Wayne and Isabella; brother, David Roman and wife, Ellen; sisters-in-law, Doris Roman and Vern Roman; and many golf buddies.
