Rep. Chris Humphrey elected to UNC Board of Visitors

Raleigh, NC – Rep. Chris Humphrey (R-Lenoir, Pitt) announced his election to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Board of Visitors.

“I am honored to be selected to serve on the UNC Board of Visitors,” said Rep. Humphrey. “As a proud alumnus, the university has a special place in my heart. I look forward to using this opportunity to be a strong voice for the university, its faculty and students.”

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Board of Visitors is an active group of volunteers, assisting the Board of Trustees and Chancellor in a range of activities that help advance the University, including public relations, government relations and fund raising. But most important, Board of Visitors members serve as ambassadors, informing members of their communities about what is going on at Carolina and, in turn, keeping the University administration informed about what they are hearing about Carolina in their communities.

The members of the UNC-Chapel Hill Board of Visitors serve four-year terms. Each year, as members rotate off, the Board of Trustees elects a class of new members. That process begins in January when trustees, other BOV members, alumni and University staff make nominations. At its spring meeting, the Trustees formally elect a new class of BOV members. The Board of Visitors typically meets twice a year in Chapel Hill. Occasionally, the Board creates committees at the request of the trustees or the Chancellor, and those groups may meet more frequently.
