Kinston Community Health Center Resource Fair scheduled for August 7th

Kinston Community Health Center Resource Fair scheduled for August 7th

Kinston Community Health Center (KCHC) is holding a resource fair Saturday, August 7th from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M., open to the whole community. It will be held in the KCHC parking lot.

This event aims to showcase all the opportunities for healthcare in Kinston and Lenoir County.

“My goal is to organize an event that presents just about any resource a person may need to help make their daily lives a little bit better,” said Anna Kinsey, the Director of Community Development and Patient Programming.

Annually, the second week of August is National Health Center Week. The past few years the KCHC has organized a Color Run 5K to raise funds for patient medication.

This year Kinsey and her team felt that it was important to focus on health holistically.

“Lenoir and our surrounding counties have resources to help our communities in many ways. And I felt with everyone’s current state due to Covid, it was important for organizations to come together and not focus solely on ‘Health’, but to focus on information sharing,” said Kinsey.

In honor of National Health Center Week the mayor will present a proclamation to the CEO of KCHC.

There will be more than 35 vendors attending the fair including organizations like Vocation Rehab, Greene Lamp, and the Neuse Regional Library, as well as the Greenville Veteran’s Center.

Half of the vendors at the fair will actually be veteran resources.

“Greenville Vet Center is coming and they’ll have a mobile unit with access to computers to show veterans what resources they have, but not may not know they have, like food and medical care.”

The KCHC will also be providing free dental screenings, COVID vaccines, and COVID testing.

“Every vendor, and all the information that they’re going to bring is so important and going to help a lot of people,” said Kinsey.

In addition to all the helpful resources, Flimsy the Clown will be the in-house DJ, so make sure to come out and bring the family!

The health center is still accepting vendors. Contact Anna Kinsey for more information at 252-522-9800 ext. 1252
