Kinston local to compete on American Ninja Warrior
Kinston local, Peyton Glover, will compete in the qualifier for American Ninja Warrior (ANW). ANW is a sports entertainment game show on NBC, where thousands of competitors attempt to compete with increasingly difficult obstacle courses across the United States.
“I have loved the show for many years and having an active background I always felt like it would be fun to get to try the obstacles,” said Glover. “When Warrior Zone opened up in Winterville two years ago I finally got a chance to try things out.”
Glover and her family have lived in Kinston for about six years. She works at Dance Etc as an Acro teacher. Her goal was to feel like she was strong enough and skilled enough to complete the obstacles they had on the show.
“I had some friends give me the push to apply this year but really I was just doing it for the application experience,” said Peyton. “I didn’t think I would get a call my first year trying.”
The first round of competition is the qualifier round in San Antonio, Texas. That will be around March 20-24, 2022. If Glover makes it to the next round, that would be the Semi-Finals in LA. Anyone who makes it through semi-finals would go to Vegas for the Finals.
“I love having goals to complete and in the ninja community this is one that not everyone gets a chance to try,” said Glover.
The sport has become a family oriented one for Glover. Both of her sons, ages eight years old and five years old, both love to do it too.
