Kinston Police Department: Robinson Cold Case

Unsolved Murder Update

On Sunday, August 23, 2015, just prior to 9:30 pm, Kaneesha Robinson was walking on Hyman Avenue with friends when a vehicle drove by and an unknown person shot out of the vehicle, striking and killing Kaneesha Robinson. Investigators do not believe Kaneesha Robinson was the intended target of the shooting. Kaneesha Robinson was 23 years old when she was murdered. The case remains unsolved to this date.

Location: 1500 block of Hyman Avenue.

On Wednesday, January 26th, 2022, members of the Kinston Police Department were able to obtain a Murder Warrant for 25 years old, Joshua Harris, for his involvement in the 2015 murder of Kaneesha Robinson. Harris was arrested on January 29th, 2022, in Charlotte N.C. and has been jailed without bond. This arrest would not have been possible without cooperation from the community and without the support of District Attorney’s Office, District 8A.

The Kinston Police Department places the highest priority on investigating crimes of violence perpetrated in our city. We will continue to investigate such cases with no compromise for crime, and continue to seek assistance from the communities that we proudly serve.
