Accident involving Greene County Sheriff's deputy holds up morning commute

According to the Greene County Sheriff's Office, this morning around 7:15am SRO Deputy Frushica Best was involved in a vehicle accident. The accident occurred on Highway 258 N between Newell Road and 903 North. The Sheriff’s Department Facebook page stated that” her patrol vehicle was struck by an on-coming vehicle that crossed the centerline into her lane.  Dep. Best was transported by EMS to Vidant Hospital where she is currently stable with no life-threatening injuries.  

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck, and cited the driver of the other vehicle with careless and reckless driving. The driver was seen and released by EMS. 

Deputy Best has been a member of the Greene County Sheriff's office since February 2022 and has served as a School Resource Officer during her tenure in the County. This is a developing story and more details will be released as the investigation continues.

Around 7:15 am this morning, while Dep. Dep. Best has been with the Sheriff's Office since Feb of 2022 and has worked as a School Resource Officer since she began. Dep. Best completed SRO training over the Summer as well as Critical Incident Training (CIT).
