Nov 5 Meet the actors of LCC's production of A Christmas Carol

Lenoir Community College presents A Christmas Carol – A New Musical, in partnership with the LCC Foundation and Fine Arts Department Nov. 11, 12, 18, and 19 at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 13 and 20 at 3 p.m. in the Briley Auditorium.

This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the holiday season with a 13-piece orchestra, 38-member cast, new seating and performance space, and state-of-the-art sound and lighting system for the first show presented in Briley Auditorium since renovation.

This musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' novel, A Christmas Carol, brings the traditional story of Scrooge to life on the stage. Written by Keith Ferguson and Bruce Greer, and directed by LCC’s own, Jessica Cruz, this musical theater adaptation is faithful to the words of Charles Dickens and has been performed by professional theaters, community theaters, schools, and churches in the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom over and again in recent years.

Meet the Cast

Kinston native Jordan Barwick is starring as Ebenezer Scrooge. He studied Musical Theater at East Carolina University and taught at Parrott Academy for two years. After seven years in Tennessee, he has returned home, and this will be his first full scale musical in over 10 years. His theatrical highlights include Alfie Doolittle in My Fair Lady at East Carolina University (ECU), Jekyll/Hyde in Jekyll and Hyde at the Farmville Community Arts Council (FCAC), Tateh in Ragtime (FCAC), Smoky Joe’s Café (ECU), Manager in Damn Yankees (ECU), Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors at Kinston High School (KHS). He is thrilled to be back on the stage in Kinston.

Art Rimbert is playing the role of Bob Cratchit and he is ecstatic to be back on the stage after way too many years. Some of his favorite roles include Forrester in A Christmas Carol, Tommy Keeler in Annie Get Your Gun, and MacDuff in MacBeth. He has also performed in opera choruses, show chorales, and a few a cappella octets. He is so grateful for the enthusiastic welcome by the cast, crew, and directors at LCC.

LCC Spanish and Humanities instructor Bryan Williamson of Greenville is cast in the roles of Mr. Fezziwig and Old Joe. He is excited about returning to the stage in this production. His last play was Once Upon a Mattress at Center Stage Theater (CST) in 2015. He was a member of the Mount Olive College Singers during his undergraduate studies and was very active in community theater during his childhood. Some of the plays he acted in included Wizard of Oz (SST), Winnie The Pooh at Shoestring Theater (SST), and Ali Baba and the Magic Cave (SST).

Suzanne Gallaher of Kinston is returning to the LCC stage as Mrs. Fezziwig in Act One and the Charwoman in Act Two. Born in Huntington, WV, she now resides in Snow Hill. She has previously performed in Jesus Christ Superstar, Annie, and Music Man.

The performance is narrated by Jocelyn Ashley as Narrator One and Hayden Hall as Narrator Two. Hall also plays Peter Cratchit and is part of the Ensemble.

Ashley hails from Georgia but moved to eastern North Carolina in 2007. She is a faculty member at LCC where she teaches chemistry. She loves doing yoga, traveling, and acting in community theatre any chance she gets. Some of her previous credits include The Vagina Monologues at LCC, The Importance of Being Earnest at Coastal Carolina Community College Community Theater, and her personal favorite, the role of Trudy in Steel Magnolias at Morgan County High School. She is very excited to act in her first musical.

Hall is excited to be a part of A Christmas Carol - A New Musical. This is his first show at LCC and second performance overall, with the first being Doody in Grease at North Lenoir High School (NLHS). He moved from Mississippi in 2021 and is currently a sophomore at NLHS. He is thrilled to share the stage with more experienced actors and get more experience himself. Hall is so grateful for the amazing cast and crew and can’t wait to perform the show.
