ALERT: Kinston man charged with murder of 2-year-old

For immediate release On Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office was made aware of an ongoing investigation of the death of a 2-year-old male. That investigation revealed the child received traumatic injuries that ultimately resulted in the child’s death at the ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville.

Corbin Elijah Moore, 27, of 2927 Hazel Hill Road, Kinston, was charged with a felony count of child abuse with serious bodily injury by the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO).

With the assistance of the DCSO, LCSO investigation efforts led to the conclusion the child received the traumatic injuries while he was at a West Macon Street residence in Pink Hill. Moore is the boyfriend of the deceased child’s mother and the child had been in Moore’s care since Nov. 28.

The LCSO has filed second-degree murder charges against Moore in the death of the child. Moore is currently being held in the Duplin County Jail with no bond.
