Lenoir County Emergency Services update
Lenoir County Emergency Services are working/have worked three events this afternoon:
* A brush fire at the intersection of Old Asphalt Road and N.C. 11 South. All southbound lanes are blocked and will be blocked for a while; there is no ETA on when they'll be reopened. Volunteer fire departments from Southwood and Sandy Bottom, along with LCES are on site
* The intersection of Hwy 11 South and Hwy 55 West (Wheat Street/11 South) is blocked due to a traffic accident that took down a power pole. Electricity is out for that area due to a transformer being on the pole. A good detour is U.S. 70 to N.C. 258 South to Tyree Road back to N.C. 11. Sandy Bottom VFD and Southwood VFD are on the scene along with Duke Energy and LCES
* A structure fire took place this afternoon at 1037 Airy Grove Church Road in Kinston. The home was fully involved with fire when fire departments arrived. There are no injuries reported; The VFDs from Hugo, North Lenoir and Sand Hill responded to the incident; Red Cross has been dispatched to assist the residents of the home
