Advisory Board Member discovers program to further her education

Vickie Polk is a member of the Office Administration/Medical Office Administration Advisory Board at Lenoir Community College. A new program introduced at the Fall 2020 board meeting sparked her interest. The program was the Certified Medical Administration Assistant (CMAA) program, which is a collaborative effort with Continuing Education. Polk who is currently employed at Kinston Community Health Center as patient accounts manager wanted to further her education.

She enrolled in the CMAA program in the Spring of 2021 and completed it in the Summer of 2021. She recently took the certification exam for CMAA and passed. “We are so proud of Vickie for her accomplishments,” said LCC Office Administration/Medical Office Administration Program Chair Carla Jones.

“The CMAA program and GEER scholarship came at an opportune time for me,” Polk said. “This program helped me to achieve higher learning in a field that I am already working in. Both my teachers, Carla Jones and Christy Culbreth, were excellent at helping me with the process. I am truly grateful for them both.”
