UPDATE: KPD obtains warrants related to Tuesdays shooting

UPDATE:

On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, members of the Kinston Police Department obtained warrants for Asante Trendale Collins, 25, of Jacksonville, NC for Aid and Abet Attempted First Degree Murder. At this time, the Kinston Police Department is searching diligently for Collins and asks anyone with information to contact the Kinston Police Department.

Previous Update:
The Kinston Police Department has identified the victim of yesterday’s shooting as Aldaquan Veal, of Kinston and at this time remains in critical condition. The motive of this shooting has not been established as of this time; however this does appear to be an isolated incident.

On Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at approximately 5:53 pm, Officers from the Kinston Police Department heard multiple gunshots coming from the direction of Carver Courts. Officers called in the shots fired and immediately arrived on scene. Officers located a subject sitting in a parked vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. EMS was called and arrived shortly thereafter to assist with life saving measures. The victim was transported to the hospital and was listed in critical condition.

Due to the notification process, the identity of the victim is being held at this time. This case is currently under investigation. An update on this case will be released tomorrow morning.
