Evelyn Coleman: Walk In Integrity
I had an experience recently in a business setting with someone I respect. He is a businessman and a politician. The details of what happened aren't the meat of the story. What is important is the manner in which this gentleman conducted his business.
Someone made an error in measurement, which would cause an increase in the cost. When the consumer decided to go elsewhere for a lower price, the original business owner behaved with integrity. He didn't try to strong-arm the consumer with persistence. He acknowledged the staff error and apologized.
In this world of so very many challenges, it is refreshing to work with people with integrity. Just do what's right, not necessarily what's easy. Replace rapacity with a generous spirit. The old saying is true: "You cannot take it with you when you die."
