Brooketah Banks announces candidacy for Clerk of Court
To the residents of Lenoir County:
About me...
I am a native of Lenoir County. I was born to the late Cleveland “Bud” Banks and living Charissa Jones Banks. I am the proud mother of a 16-year-old son.
I have earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Public Administration and a Masters' degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resource from the University of Phoenix.
In 2012, I was afforded the opportunity to serve as Deputy Clerk in the Lenoir County Clerk’s office for 5 years, where I gained hands on experience serving the Lenoir County community, including the public, judicial officers, attorney’s and other staff. I have hands on experience working in the civil division, criminal division, and the juvenile division. I served as the courtroom clerk for child support and as the courtroom clerk for juvenile delinquent and abused, neglected, and dependency court.
I worked closely with the magistrates, attorney’s, law enforcement and other staff and developed great respectful relationships. I have also worked with other vital agencies such as the Lenoir County Department of Social Services, the Department of Juvenile Justice and Guardian ad Litem.
Currently, I am the Director of Operations Initiatives for a private jet company. My primary duty is to oversee the pilot recordkeeping functions of the company for approximately 250 pilots and the Drug and Alcohol Program of nearly 285 participants.
The clerk’s office serves as a customer service entity for the clerical and record keeping functions of the judicial system.
My past and current experience will further enhance my leadership skills and abilities to properly oversee the employees and recordkeeping functions of the Clerk's Office. It is my vision and mission to improve the organizational culture and structure of the Lenoir County’s Clerk’s Office by serving as a genuine resource for the Deputy and Assistant Deputy Clerks, improving the "ICSE" (Ideal Customer Service Experience) for ALL people and ensuring that the Clerk's office is maximizing their ability to assist the public regardless of their circumstances. I believe in building positive and meaningful relationships with ALL people to better serve the citizens of Lenoir County and other surrounding areas.
My Story…
My mother and father were very instrumental in my upbringing. My mom has always been a loving mom, great supporter, disciplinarian, and realist. My father was very serious about “earning your keep”, exemplifying strong work ethic, helping people in the community and treating people kindly and with respect regardless of their social status.
As many of you may remember and for anyone who doesn’t know, my dad would purchase cans from other people to provide an income for himself and for the person selling the cans. My siblings and I would pick up cans alongside roads and in most parking lots. No can was exempt from being put on the back of my dad’s blue F-150 pickup truck. There were many weekends I spent riding on the back of my dad’s truck down highways and city streets in search of “The Can”.
At that time, I didn’t realize the purpose of searching for cans. As I became an adult, the purpose for the can adventures became clear. I now know and understand that my dad was teaching me to work hard for what you want, always work to be a provider, treat people kindly and with respect because you never know when you are going to need them, and don’t let your pride become your enemy. My parents taught me “I Can”.

I’m asking the citizens of Lenoir County to embrace a new face, a new vision, and a new hope by voting for me, Brooketah C. Banks as Clerk of Court for Lenoir County. Let’s ensure “The Can” that became “I Can” will now become “We Can” as we vote “Banks for Change” on November 8, 2022.
