Obituary: Mildred Cleo Garris
Kinston- Mildred Cleo Garris went to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, March 8, 2022, in the presence of her children.
The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2 pm in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Edwards Funeral Home. At other times the family will receive visitors at the home of Mike and Niecy Creel, 2953 Cherry Lane, Kinston, NC.
“Cleo”, as known by her family and friends, was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She loved cooking for her family, family gatherings, and she was fun-loving, had a big heart and exemplified strength and character to all who knew her!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maude Youngblood Wright, mother, and Oliver Daniel Wright, father, both of Georgia; Oliver Wendell Wright, brother, of Alabama, and Joann Wright Hudson, sister, of Georgia; a stillborn son, along with sons, Ricky Allen Coleman, of South Carolina, and Terry Marcus Coleman, of Kinston, NC. She is survived by her son, Jerry Lee Coleman and wife, Mary, of Garner, and Gregory Allen Coleman of Kinston; daughter, Angela (Niecy) Garris Creel and husband, Mike of Kinston; grandchildren, Matthew B. Coleman and wife, Stephanie of Dunn, Darren M. Coleman and wife, Cara of Garner, Jennifer Creel Pitts and husband, Ethan of Kinston, Sydney Coleman Hudson and husband, Dallas of Garner, Micah Creel Potter and husband, Josh of Kinston, and Jacob Lee Coleman and wife, Avery of Garner; great grandchildren, Wesley Rae Coleman, Avery Collins Pitts, Baylor Grae Hudson, Gunner Michael Pitts, Caleb Royce Coleman, Emma Valentine Coleman, Brody Dupree Potter, and Kolbie Reese Potter; sisters, Virginia Wright Peede, of Kinston, June Wright Clements, of Georgia, Christine Wright Harris, of Kinston, and Sharon Wright Addison, of Georgia; many beloved nieces and nephews; and special pet, Prissy her beloved cat.
