Earth Day Expo returns to Neuseway Nature Park on Saturday

Neuseway Nature Park will have an event on Saturday, April 16, 2022 from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm. The event is supported by the NC Science Festival and Kinston/Lenoir County Parks and Recreation.

“We have officially started having an in person Earth Day Expo again,” said Planetarium Director Sarah Bartlett Pears. “And the park feels like we just went from 0 to 100 real fast after these last two years of Covid protocols.”

There will be guest speakers from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, local Master Gardeners, and Lenoir Community College. The winners of the 2022 Neuseway Science Fair will be announced at the Earth Day Expo. The winner’s project will be on exhibit for a year in the museum and win $200. The competition was open to any student in Eastern North Carolina’s 4th through12th grade.

“We hope that the competition only continues to grow!” Bartlett Pears said.

There will be other organizations, including Girl Scouts, who will help create recycled tire art for the train yard, and Funny Bug Bees, who will install an observational beehive next month.

Neuseway Nature Park looks forward to returning to a sense of normal and hopes the Earth Day Expo helps to bring the community together.
