Lenoir County line dancers win gold at Neuse River Senior Games
Lenoir County Line Dancers have won Gold at the Neuse River Senior Games six out of the last seven years. While most of the events were in-person, the line dancers submitted a video for their “Bootin Scootin Boogie” dance. They won Best in Show, which means they will compete in the State Games.
The executive director Betsy Griffin of the Council on Aging wants to give the dancers recognition. “They are all pretty amazing to me.”
The line dancers include Audrey Nobles as the group leader, Tina McNair, Sandy Rogers, Jane Whaley, Thelma Barrow, Linda Chambers, Eula Lawson, Warwick Frazelle, Linda Sanderson, and Betsy Griffin.
The line dancers represented the Lenoir County Council on Aging and will advance to the State Games in the fall. Per their website, the Lenoir County Council on Aging works to improve and promote the well-being of senior citizens in Lenoir County by providing quality services designed to maintain or enhance the well-being of senior citizens through a variety of classes and enriching activities.
The North Carolina Senior Games will be held in September through November 2022 throughout the state in-person. The video below shows the remote submission by the Lenoir County Line Dancers.
They have competed in the State Seniors Games five out of six years and won two gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal.
