Keith Seaforth, Kinston dentist, former LCPS Board member passes away at 75

Dr. Keith M. Seaforth passed away on June 21, 2022, at 75 years of age. Seaforth opened his dentistry office in Kinston in 1981. He was married to his wife Barbara for 51 years and together they had four children, all of whom graduated from Howard University, Seaforth’s alma mater.

“Dr. Seaforth will certainly be remembered for his tireless dedication to the students and staff of our system,” said Nicholas Harvey II, Lenoir County Public Schools Assistant Superintendent. “His legacy of fairness for all continues to resonate with our leadership team. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Barbara and the entire Seaforth family.”

His service to the community included serving as the President of the Howard University College of Dentistry Alumni Association, Lenoir County Board of Education, the United Way board, the Big Brother/Big Sister board, and the Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce.

Linden Fund USA, which supports the economic and social redevelopment of Linden, Guyana, posted the following message on their Facebook page: “Keith was an outstanding civic leader and long-term Director of the Linden Fund USA, who financially backed projects for the improvement of Linden. We send our condolences to Keith’s family, friends, and colleagues who grieve his passing!”

Lenoir County Commissioner Chair and former Lenoir County Public School Board member Linda Rouse Sutton said, “Keith became a very good friend while we served on the school board. He was very level headed and thought things through. He worked hard as a board member to make sure all children had the same opportunity to be educated. I really enjoyed serving with him and getting to know the true leader he was.”

Per his obituary, his funeral will be held at St. Augustus A.M.E. Zion Church on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 12 PM with Rev. Reginald Bradshaw officiating. Interment shall follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
