Jones County release courthouse dress code

Jones County NC posted the following on their Facebook page:

Administrative order:

The undersigned Senior Resident Superior court Judge and Chief District Court Judge of the Fourth Judicial District have determined that the following attire and items are prohibited in the Jones County Courthouse.

• Halter tops, muscle shirts, tank tops, and tube tops

• Belly shirts, half shirts, or any shirts that expose a bare stomach;

• Shirts or tops with very low-cut necklines;

• Shirts with obscene language or gestures, alcohol or drug references

• Shorts or dresses should be of a length that they meet the tips of your fingers with your hands down by your side;

• No sagging pants or exposed underwear (sagging is defined as pants or shorts worn below waist level);

Possession of the following items are prohibited unless authorized by the law or Court:

• Food/drink;

• Guns, knives, or dangerous weapons of any kind;

Failure to comply with these rules may result in being held in contempt of court and punishable by up to 30 days in jail, a $500 fine, or both.
