NCDOT: Vehicle theft prevention and Operation Firecracker

Vehicle Theft Prevention Month
It’s as easy as locking your door, but according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, more than 800,000 Americans fall victim to their car being stolen each year.
July is Vehicle Theft Prevention Month. As a driver you can take simple steps to keep your vehicle and belongings safe:
Park in secure and safe areas;
Invest in anti-theft devices;
Put valuables where they can’t be seen;
Never leave your car unattended while it’s running; and
Always lock your vehicle each time you walk away from it.

Booze It & Lose It's 'Operation Firecracker'
Independence Day is over, but “Operation Firecracker” is still ongoing. That means law enforcement in all 100 counties are continuing their efforts to crack down on impaired driving.
Drivers can expect more officers patrolling their communities and bringing awareness about the dangers and consequences of drinking and driving. Drivers caught impaired could lose their licenses, go to jail or pay huge fines.
If you decide to drink, appoint a designated driver, take a cab or an Uber, or use public transportation. Never drive impaired.
The Governor’s Highway Safety Program’s “Operation Firecracker” initiative runs through July 10.
