Pink Hill Public Library’s Back to School Bash and other free programs for all ages
Lori Bradford, Pink Hill Public Library Branch Manager
The past year has seen many changes at the Etta Jones Turner Public Library (Pink Hill Public Library) and we look forward to continued growth, both in our library and throughout the community. Through our programs and outreach, we hope you’ll join us as we offer new and exciting opportunities for our patrons.
Beginning in August, we will start our Tech Bytes program. Tech Bytes will be held twice a week, on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Each month we will focus on a different topic and this August it will be Getting to Know Your Phone. We’ll be offering general device assistance and tech tips.
We recognize that our community is a diverse place and are pleased to announce the start of a weekly ESL Conversation Group in August. The group will be for intermediate to advanced ESL learners. We will meet weekly on Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. to discuss a monthly topic. In August our monthly topic is free-time and hobbies. No preparation is needed, just a desire to improve your English-speaking skills and a readiness to socialize.
We continue to offer our quality programs for all ages. Between our book club for homeschooled children or our adult Page to Screen themed book club, there are multiple engaging programs to participate in. Teens ages 13-18 are invited to visit us for our monthly Teen Advisory Council meeting and the Players League game night. New activities are always being planned for the coming months and we welcome everyone to check out and follow our social media to read about any updates.
With summer break coming to an end, backpacks will soon need to be filled for the upcoming school year. The Pink Hill Public Library wants to help offset the stress of back-to-school preparation with our annual Back to School Bash. We invite families from the surrounding school districts to join us yet again for free food, games, and fun! There will be free school supplies given away with no advanced registration required.
This year’s Back to School Bash will be held on Saturday, August 6th from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Come dressed to get wet and don’t forget your towels and sunscreen! The Back to School Bash is sponsored by Pink Hill Ruritan Club, Howard’s Insurance of Pink Hill, Community Connection, the Kinston-Lenoir County Friends of the Library, and the patients and staff of Pink Hill Chiropractic. If you are interested in making a monetary or supply donation or would like to learn more about any of these programs, please contact Lori Bradford at the Etta Jones Turner Public Libraryat 252-568-3631.
