Early morning residential structure fire injures two

Multiple fire departments at the scene of a working residential structure fire. Just after 03:00 am this morning, Lenoir County 911 received a call reporting a home on fire. Fire department crews arrived to find heavy fire showing from a large two-story home. Two people were inside the residence when the fire started. Both people sustained injuries from the fire but were able to escape before the fire department’s arrival. One patient has been transported to ECU Health Medical Center with serious injuries. The other patient was transported to UNC Lenoir Hospital with minor injuries.

Firefighters are still working to contain the blaze. Fire Investigators from Lenoir County Emergency Services are on the scene to begin work on determining the fire’s cause.

Responding departments included North Lenoir Fire & Rescue, Hugo Fire & Rescue, Kinston Department of Fire & Rescue, Lenoir County EMS, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, and Lenoir County Fire Marshall’s Office.
