Obituary: Trace Hill

Trace came into this world a four-pound fourteen ounce baby boy on December 11, 2007, and melted his Mommy and Daddy’s hearts. On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, the world became dimmer when the brightness of Trace’s life ended at the tender age of 15.

He was the youngest grandchild on both sides of his family for eleven years and it clearly showed! Trace had a love for people from day one and never met a stranger. Chuggington and Octonauts were his first loves.

Trace developed a fond love of history at a very young age; it was all about World War II and the Presidents of the United States. He loved researching these topics on Youtube and it expanded him into other parts of history. He also loved Xbox from a very young age and didn’t want to stop a game until he completed it.

His Daddy always wanted a boy so that he could share his two loves with him; baseball and Boy Scouts. Baseball didn’t go as planned, but anyone who knew Trace knew his love for Scouting. He started his career in Scouting in East Carolina Council Cub Pack 114 where he earned his Tiger Rank and Wolf Rank. In 2016, he moved to Cub Pack 424 where he earned his next three ranks, ending with his Arrow of Light. In 2019, he crossed over into Troop 424 and developed a whole new love for Scouting advancing four ranks in one year. He served many leadership roles in the troop ending with his last being Senior Patrol Leader. At the time of his death, he was working on his Board Approved Eagle Scout Project to complete his scouting career and obtaining his Eagle Scout Honor. Trace was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was Chief of the Neusiok Chapter and a member of the East Carolina Council Croatan Lodge 117.

Trace is survived by his Daddy, Malcolm Harry Hill, Jr and Mommy, Jennifer Mozingo Hill of the home.
