Lenoir County Sheriff's office assists Greene County with fraud arrests

On 01/24/2023, the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Greene County Sheriff’s Office with apprehending two suspects in a Greene County Fraud case. 52 year old Richard Moore and 45 year old Kimberly Matthews, both of Kinston, were taken into custody in Lenoir County by Deputies after Greene County Investigators received information about their location.

Both were charged by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office for Obtaining Property by False Pretenses and Conspiracy to Commit Obtaining Property by False Pretenses.

A Greene County investigation showed that Moore and Matthews were running ads on social media promising to provide building materials to individuals, after which they collected money and never delivered the building materials as promised.

Greene County Investigators received information on the whereabouts of the two suspects and through coordinating with Lenoir County Sheriff's Office Deputies, they were able to stop the suspects in a traffic stop.

Moore was served in Lenoir County with the Greene County charges along with other outstanding Lenoir County charges and other Counties fraud charges. Matthews was transported to and served in Greene County.
