Obituary: Bonita Joy (Stroud) Bourdas
Bonita Joy (Stroud) Bourdas, age 68, of Kinston, NC, was promoted to Glory on Monday, January 2nd, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Bonita was a loving and devoted Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Wife. Although Bonita never had Children of her own, all of her Nieces and Nephews held a very special place in her heart.
Bonita was a dedicated worker and retired from the Kinston Shirt Factory after 20 plus years. She also enjoyed working in retail, where she could provide assistance to others. Bonita was preceded in death by her Parents, John Owen and Doris Whaley Stroud, her In-Laws, Alex and Edna Bourdas and Sister-in-Law, Alexanne B. Clark; Her Sister, Betty Stroud Martin and Babies, Michele Lynn and John Allen, Michael Chad Chase; Shane Alex Small and Allie Palmer.
She leaves behind to share her memory, Her Husband of 48 years, Thomas Anthony (Tony) Bourdas; Sister-in-Law, Stephanie Smith (Albert); Brothers, Johnny Stroud (Frances) and Jimmy Stroud; her sisters; Brenda Stilley (Ray); Bonnie Chase; Bobbie Maldonada (Lou); Beverly King (Al); Belinda Jones; Betina Stroud and Billie Faye Stroud; and, a very special part of the Stroud family, Eddie Chase. Bonita was a member of the Salvation Army, Kinston Corps, where she met and dedicated her life to serving the Lord.
The family would like to thank all those who provided care to Bonita during her short bout with cancer; however, we extend a very special thanks to Pruitt Health-Neuse of New Bern and Community Home Care and Hospice of Kinston, NC. The Family will receive friends at the home of Tanya and Ray Brinson, 1577 Eastwood Drive, Kinston, NC. Bonita’s services will be held as follows: Visitation: Friday Evening, January 6th, from 6-8:00 P.M. at Howard Carter Funeral Home, located at 1608 W. Vernon Avenue in Kinston. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday Morning, January 7th at Pinelawn Memorial Park at 11:00 A.M. The family wishes to thank Howard Carter Funeral Home for their Assistance during this very sad and difficult time.
