Gerald Clifton Forrest Jr. a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away at his home on Monday, October 23, 2023. He had just celebrated his 67th birthday on October 22nd.

Gerald was a proud graduate of South Lenoir High School, class of 1975, and his unwavering dedication to the food industry began shortly thereafter, marking the start of a lifelong career that would touch the lives of many. In 1985, he embarked on a journey with Tands Inc., starting at the very first Bojangles location in Kinston on Vernon Avenue. Over the years, he achieved numerous milestones and held various titles within the company, eventually reaching the prestigious position of Director of Expansion and Development.

Beyond his professional life, Gerald was a man of many passions and hobbies that filled his weekends with joy and fulfillment. He was known for his culinary expertise, delighting family and friends with delicious meals. His prized Grabber Blue Mustang received meticulous care and attention, a testament to his love for all things fast and beautiful. In the garden, he nurtured life, planting and tending to his plants with a gentle touch. Fishing trips brought him joy, and Wednesday nights were reserved for friendly poker games. Gerald was an avid fan of Nascar, a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, and a devoted follower of the Rolling Stones.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald, and Dorothy Forrest, both from Kinston, as well as his daughter Victoria King. He is survived by his devoted wife, Teresa Forrest of Kinston, and his loving children: Jenna Meekins, with her husband Josh, and their children Jentry and Jamisen of Greenville; Heather Stroud, her husband Whaley, and their children Gadson and Hudson of Kinston; son Chad King and wife Jessica of New Bern; daughter Ashley Stallings and husband Danny of Hendersonville. He is also survived by his sister, JoAnn Owens, and her husband Gus of Kinston, as well as niece and nephew Shaina and Brandon Owens. In addition, Gerald leaves behind his uncle and aunt, Thomas Barnett and wife Erma of Snow Hill.

Gerald will be remembered for his remarkable achievements in his professional career, his zest for life and hobbies, and most importantly, the love he shared with his family. He touched the hearts of many and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A funeral service to celebrate Gerald's life will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 1:00pm at Howard and Carter Funeral Home. Please join us in honoring the memory of Gerald Clifton Forrest Jr. as we bid farewell to a remarkable man who brought joy and happiness into the lives of those around him.
