State math teacher group honors EB Frink’s Lindo
Pauline Lindo of EB Frink Middle School has been honored by the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics as the district’s Outstanding Secondary Mathematics Teacher.
The honors continue to add up for EB Frink Middle School math teacher Pauline Lindo. Named LCPS’s Teacher of the Year in 2022, she was recognized recently by the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics as the district’s Outstanding Secondary Mathematics Teacher for 2022-2023.
As a winner, Lindo will be featured during an awards ceremony during the NCCTM annual conference in Winston-Salem in November.
In her sixth year at Frink, Lindo has logged more than 20 years in the classroom. A native of Jamaica, she came to LCPS in 2007 to teach at Rochelle Middle School.
“Ms. Lindo is one of the very best teachers I have ever had the privilege of working with,” Dr. Michael Moon, Frink’s principal, said. “She demands excellence from all of her students and does so with personal warmth and support that provides room for math students of all ability levels to find success in her classroom.
“It is no surprise that Ms. Lindo has been recognized by the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and I am happy that her hard work is being highlighted by this prestigious statewide award for secondary math teachers.”
Lindo holds a bachelor of science degree in education from Western Carolina University and a master of arts and learning degree from Nova Southeastern University.
At Frink, she is known for classes that regularly exceed state standards for academic growth, for her lively teaching style and for her close relationship with students, who are all known as her “honeybuns.”
She takes this most recent award in stride and shifts credit for success to her students.
“It means I am doing what I am passionate about, being there for the kids every day, showing up for them, and this award is all for the kids,” she said. “It’s not about me, it’s about the kids. Without them, I cannot get this opportunity. It’s really for my honeybuns, my kids.”
