Johnna Garris named President’s Service Excellence Award winner of the year for UNC Health Lenoir

UNC Health Lenoir is pleased to announce Johnna Garris is the 2022 President’s Service Excellence Award winner. The PSEA is selected by peers as an employee who exemplifies superior performance, strong leadership, effective communication, and service excellence. Johnna began employment on October 5, 1987, as a Pharmacy Technician. She served in the role of Pharmacy Quality Technician before her promotion to Pharmacy Technician Supervisor.

Her colleagues shared that, “Johnna is efficient at keeping our pharmacy well stocked by ordering needed medications and filing necessary paperwork for our department to continue day after day. She always helps others with medication orders, making IVs and chemotherapy as needed. Johnna is responsible for quality monitors such as sterility testing for our IV room to ensure patient safety. She is always available as a listening ear or sounding board for helpful advice. She helps keep our team running as smoothly as possible and is a joy to work with.”

In addition to her normal duties Johnna serves on several hospital committees including the United Way committee and the LEAN Steering committee. She is famous for her pound cakes and is always willing to make one for a hospital bake sale.

“Our entire Lenoir family was thrilled to recognize Johnna at our 2022 Service Awards Banquet,” said Dale Hardy, Pharmacy Director. “Johnna’s relaxed demeanor, positivity, and attention to detail make her an excellent employee. Johnna is dedicated, conscientious and is respected by her team. She is as asset to the organization.”
