Update: Arrest made in October bank robbery

On Sunday, November 12, 2023, members of the Colorado Springs Police Department apprehended Lewis without incident while investigating an unrelated matter. Lewis is being held in their jurisdiction pending extradition back to Kinston, where he will face Armed Robbery charges.
Original Release
On Tuesday, October 17th, 2023, at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Kinston Police Department responded to First National Bank located at 1101 W. Vernon Ave. Kinston in reference to a robbery. Upon arrival, officers met with the victims, who advised that an unknown white male entered the bank and demanded money. The suspect was believed to be armed and fled on foot after receiving cash from the teller.
Investigators responded to the area, and with assistance from the Ayden Police Department, Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office, and Federal Bureau of Investigation, the perpetrator was identified as Christopher Steven Lewis, 40, of Ayden, N.C. At this time, Mr. Lewis has active warrants for Armed Robbery and is believed to be operating a Silver 2016 Toyota 4Runner bearing N.C. Registration PCJ-3526.
