Kinston Police apprehend felon in shooting incident with stolen firearm; victim expected to recover

On Friday, November 17, 2023, Kinston Police Officers responded to a report of a subject being shot at a residence on the 1400 Block of E Caswell Street.  Officers arrived on the scene and located the victim, Emanuel Brewing (52, of Goldsboro, NC), suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  The offender, James Carmon (57, of Kinston, NC) was apprehended at the scene.  Mr. Brewing was transported to ECU Medical Center and is expected to recover from his injuries.

The firearm used in this incident was reported stolen from Greenville, NC, and Carmon is a convicted felon.  Carmon has been arrested and placed in the Lenoir County Jail under secure bond for the following:  Attempted Murder, Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Injury to Personal Property.
