Obituary: Harvette Hope Byrd Poole

Harvette Hope Byrd Poole, 58, of LaGrange, passed away on December 10, 2023. Harvette was born on August 19, 1965, to Thurman Harvey Byrd and Betty Byrd.

Funeral services will be held at Westminster United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Thursday December 14, 2023, with Pastor Dennis Peay officiating. A visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall. A private burial service will be held.

Harvette was predeceased by her father, Thurman Harvey Byrd, and special Grandmother Lucy Jones. She is survived by her mother Betty Byrd of Kinston; loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Bob Poole of LaGrange; daughter Blair Hamilton and husband Daniel of LaGrange; grandsons Clayton Hamilton and Samuel Hamilton; sister Ginger Hodges and husband Claud of Washington; brother Mike Byrd and wife Karen of Deep Run; father-in-law Walter Poole and wife Sylvia of Kinston; mother-in-law Ann Batt of Kinston; niece Jordan Cox and husband Kelly of Washington and great niece Audrey Cox and great nephew Logan Cox; and niece Mallory Stancill and husband Ben of Ayden and great niece Landon Stancill and great nephew Wiley Stancill. She is also survived by her loving extended family and many, many friends.

Harvette loved her church family, especially her prayer shawl group that she and her Mother attended together. She had a steadfast love for her family, especially her precious grandsons. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, Nascar, Bunco, bowling, cooking, and sharing her creations with others. She loved her years working at Billy’s Drive-In with her larger-than-life personality. Family vacations at Emerald Isle, trips to Atlantic City and pontoon voyages on the Pamlico River were some of her favorite adventures and became memories of her lifetime.
